My Story
In response to a gap in my presentation skills identified during my annual appraisal, I enrolled in a part-time course on Effective Public Speaking Skills. While I initially sought to improve my abilities in this area, the course ultimately proved to be transformative, altering the way I communicate and present myself in both my personal and professional life.
Little did I know that this would mark the beginning of my remarkable Toastmasters journey, spanning 17 years and destined to last a lifetime. I started as the Charter President of my home club and have since held various high-profile leadership positions, including at Area, Division, District, and Regional levels. I am proud to have served as the Regional 13 Advisor for two terms. Toastmasters has truly transformed me from a timid, shy, and nervous individual into an accomplished International Brand Marketing Specialist, General Manager, Head of a Business Unit, and University Lecturer,
With a diverse corporate career spanning over 35 years, I have had the privilege of progressing from a junior executive to being a head of a division within one of the largest conglomerates, operating at a strategic management level. This journey has equipped me with extensive expertise in marketing, HRM (Human Resources Management), management accountancy, and general management, contributing to my well-rounded professional profile. In addition, I have pursued educational achievements, including an MBA (master’s degree in business administration), as well as post-graduate diplomas in Marketing and Management Accountancy. In recognition of my contributions to the field of management, I was honoured with a Doctor of Excellence, Honoris Causa, from the Young Scientists University, USA.
Traveling extensively across the world has brought me immense joy in my professional career. I have visited Russia, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, as well as the Middle East, European Union, selected African nations, the United States, and Canada. These experiences have allowed me to gain invaluable insight into different cultures and lifestyles, a broadened perspective on global affairs, and an appreciation for the beauty and diversity of our planet.
Coming from a family of public servants, I was raised with a deep-rooted understanding of service and leadership. My family's influence has played a significant role in shaping me into the servant leader I am today. With gratitude, I credit my family of five for instilling these values in me and inspiring me to pursue a fulfilling life of serving others. My family consists of my mother, wife, and twins - a son pursuing a master’s degree in architecture and a daughter working as a Senior Merchandiser with a degree in International Business. They are both actively engaged in their respective professions and contribute significantly to their respective fields. Both my children are actively involved in Toastmasters, adding to our shared passion for personal growth and effective communication.
